Service Costs
Risolana is a non-profit educational art space that values creativity, learning, and accessibility. When you choose Risolana for your projects, your contribution goes directly into the community to support workshops and other opportunities.

We also offer consultations. $80-$125 (sliding scale) one-on-one, 2 hour session to talk about your project with a tech and experiment a bit to help inform your project.
All print jobs at Risolana start with a $105 service fee. This service fee is inclusive of:
A $30 studio rate, which covers the reservation of Risolana’s studio for up to a 3-hour block of time.
Three hours of print and design studio tech support at $25 an hour for a total of $75. This fee goes towards the Risolana staff member present in the studio.
We offer custom design for print services at a rate of $40 an hour.

If possible, we recommend bundling multiple projects in a single studio visit rather than across multiple studio visits to avoid incurring multiple service fees.
Masters
Every image is printed with the risograph using a sheet of rice paper called a master. Risolana charges $3.00 for each master. For prints using multiple colors, a single master is used for each layer (e.g. a three color print will require three masters). Our masters can produce prints up to 11x17”. Prints smaller than 11x17” still require a single full master at the same cost of $3.00. A single master can produce hundreds of copies of its image. Knowing this, all risograph prints decrease in cost as quantity increases.
Most risograph prints will require some trial and error to achieve your desired vibrancy, texture, or clarity. Risolana only charges users for the masters your project requires, and not the masters used when testing or tweaking print settings. As such, please note that the cost of masters is marked up to compensate for experimentation expected in the risograph printing process.

Paper
Risolana carries the following paper options:
Neenah 8.5x11” 67lb white vellum at 10¢ a sheet
Neenah 8.5x11” 110lb gray, green, yellow, blue, and beige cardstock at 15¢ a sheet
Neenah 11x17” 57lb white vellum at 20¢ a sheet
You are welcome to bring your own paper for printing. However, please note that the risograph can only print on uncoated, non-glossy paper.

Ink
Risolana charges a flat rate of 5¢ for each color run, regardless of color used and size of print. We currently offer the following colors: black, federal blue, flat gold, and fluorescent orange. Should you choose to bring your own paper to print on, you will still be charged for ink.
